In June 2016, the Marine Environmental Sciences Department successfully salvaged and raised a 22-foot boat that had sunk in the Al-Kout Marina, near the Fishermen's Diwaniya. The Scientific Club's diving team successfully salvaged and raised the boat using parachutes, lifting belts, and water suction pumps to recover it without any damage. In 2016, the Scientific Diving Club team succeeded in recovering and raising a sunken cruiser on Qaruh Island, after several attempts by other environmental agencies were unsuccessful. However, once the team received the report and learned the location of the sinking and the cruiser's specifications, a comprehensive recovery plan was put in place. The cruiser had been lying at the bottom of the island for 10 days, in an area rich in coral reefs. - The Scientific Diving Club team was able to recover and raise waste from the bottom of Qaruh Island, weighing more than three tons, including fishing nets, tires, glass, batteries, and other waste.
